Petronella Saves Nearly Everyone Nominated for Cybil Award

Thanks to Colleen Mondor for nominating Petronella Saves Nearly Everyone for the Middle Grade division of the Cybil Awards for 2009. The Cybil Awards come from literary bloggers. Thanks for the nomination! Once again, the list of nominees is impressive and intimidating. It's an honor to be listed among them.

Hey! That's a real honor!

It sure is, but you should see the competition! Ouch!

But I have to laugh. One "fan" said on Goodreads that I was insensitive and offensive because I portrayed British imperialistic and racist attitudes without saying they were bad. Get a life!

Ha. I guess they thought the 13 and 14 year olds reading your book couldn't figure out that they were bad without you telling them directly. Maybe in your next book you should include a "Moral of the Story" at the end or a disclaimer like the "None of the animals were hurt in the filming of this movie" notices.

But just for the record, those imperialists really had the wrong idea, didn't they?

Yes they did, and they also changed the history of the world and the maps, so we're left dealing with it.
